The Hockensmith Barn joins the ensemble of structures encircling the grass farmyard at The Parklands of Floyds Fork’s Brown-Forman Silo Center. At the Silo Center, a legacy working farmyard has been transformed into a contemporary activity center and evokes the image of a classic Kentucky rural barnyard of the past; new and old structures combine to evoke a romanticized image of rural hospitality. Formerly standing on the site, an old dairy barn, later used for tobacco storage, was in a condition beyond repair. It was replaced by a new larger barn designed in the traditional 3-bay heavy timber truss method, made by Amish craftsmen of hemlock wood and relying entirely on pegged joinery. The Hockensmith Barn and its adjoining event lawn host all manner of festivities for up to 250 people, with catering support.
