Danville Water Treatment Plant

Danville, KY

The City of Danville is embarking on an ambitious plan to essentially expand and replace the city-owned Water Treatment Plant within the limits of its existing site location without reducing its ability to serve its customers in the process. It will incorporate new technologies in place of the old, and expand capacity to meet future needs.

Bravura, working with HDR Engineers (Lexington), has assisted with the site planning, architectural design and phasing of the project to accomplish these goals. The basic components include new sedimentation basins, new GAC building, new Chemical Feed Building, new Filtration Building, and the renovation of existing buildings for operations and laboratories.

The facility is located within a residential area of the community, and the City of Danville is very concerned that the new plant be respectful to its neighbors, and sensitive to the historic importance of the original Beaux Arts style building created in the 1920s. Clumsy additions made in the 1950s need visual damage control. This is a very complex undertaking, but Bravura’s proposed solution has won wide acceptance with the City Council and the community at-large.
