Conceived as a major new visitor attraction, Botanica has been sited to capitalize on the adjacent Waterfront Park and views of the Ohio River beyond.  The natural form of the new center, inspired by the organic structure of plants, unfolds as visitors experience the sense of discovery while they engage the facility and surrounding grounds.  The program celebrates our interaction with nature through exhibition spaces with changing seasonal displays, a conservatory, butterfly house and an outdoor amphitheater.  Rising from the reclaimed floodplain, the center reconnects the visitor to the natural environment.
